What is the difference between paper, bagasse and PLA?

All three are compostable, but they behave differently in service.

  • Paper fibre — the cheapest and most widely recyclable option. Best for dry and ambient food, and for hot meals up to 90°C.
  • Sugarcane bagasse — stronger and more heat resistant than paper, and oven and microwave safe. Best for hot, saucy food.
  • Plant based PLA — clear and rigid, so it shows off salads and desserts. Cold service only, and industrial composting.

Bagasse is also the most carbon-efficient choice because it uses an agricultural residue rather than dedicated crops.

Compare materials across the range and find the right one for your food.
